Information About the Upcoming Season / Rule changes

May 26, 2014

Here are some of the details on the upcoming season.  Please read carefully, some things have changed...

Here's the info for the upcoming season...

Regular Season games:  Shorter season this time.  This season will be 8 regular season games.  (This may or may not be a permanent change)
  • Teams will play each of the other teams at least one time (total of 6 games).  The other 2 regular season games will be a 2nd matchup against 2 of the teams (randomly generated before the start of the season).  In other words you will play 4 opponents ONE time, and 2 opponents TWO times.
  • Tiebreaker:
    • Two team tiebreaker:  Tiebreaker for end of season standings is the H2H winner between the tied teams.  NOTE: If two teams are tied at the end of the regular season, AND they played each other 2 times, the FIRST matchup between the teams will be the game used to break the tie (H2H matchup # 1).
    • Three team tiebreaker:  If three teams are tied at the end of the regular season, the tie will be broken by H2H record against the other teams in the tiebreaker (Using ONLY the first H2H matchups).  If all 3 teams are still tied, then POINT DIFFERENTIAL in those H2H matchups will break the tie. (If two teams are tied at the top of the H2H point differential, then H2H against each other breaks the tie).   Once the 3 team tie is broken, then the 2 teams remaining will use the "2 team tiebreaker" rules to break their tie.

Fees:
  • Team fee = $560
    • Coaches please declare who your REGULARS are.  The number of regulars you have will determine the fee that they each pay...
    • -breakdown by player is
      • $56 each for a 10 man team
      • $62.23 each for 9 man team
      • $70 each for 8 man team
      • $80 each for 7 man team
      • $93.34 for a 6 man team.
    • First Payment:  Each player  must pay at least HALF of their fee at the first game to cover the first 4 games of the season (the other HALF of the fee is due at game # 4). - ALL players on the team must pay at least half of the fee at the first game or the team will not be scheduled again until ALL players on the team are current with their fees!  A player may pay more than half at the first game if they wish.  They may also pay towards the 2nd payment at games # 2 and # 3...
    • Second Payment:  The remaining Balance must be paid in full before, or at the 4th game.  IF a team is not paid in full at the 4th game, your team will NOT be scheduled for the second half of the season until it pays it's balance is paid in full.
  • Sub Fees:  Subs will pay $9 to play at each game that they play.  This is payable before the game or the sub WON'T be allowed to play!  Forms also must be filled out if it is their first game.  The first time a sub plays, the $9 fee goes towards League Administration costs.   Sub fees collected from that sub during the rest of the season (2nd game onward)  will go towards reducing your team's future balance (or next season's fees if your team's fees are already paid in full)...

Game Days & Times:
  • Game Days:  ALL games will be played on Saturdays (there may be occasional Wednesdays to keep season moving along.)
  • Game Times: -
    • Saturdays: 10:00am, 11:00am, & 12:00pm - nothing later than that (gym is not available past these times currently.)
    • Wednesdays (If used/needed): 9:00pm only (We may do a game on Wednesday nights some weeks between teams willing to play during the week to keep season moving along).
      • Website will be updated with the upcoming schedule for Saturday each Monday afternoon (Approx. 3:00pm)
      • Once your game time is posted on the website the game is officially scheduled and can NOT be changed.  There should be NO problem getting enough guys to a game with 12 man rosters (including subs).  If you know of a date that will be a problem for your team in advance, let me know ASAP and if it hasn't already been scheduled, I'll try and help you out.
      • SCHOOL Always has priority:  The school has priority for use of the gym.  Anytime that there is a need for the gym, I am obligated to give them priority.  Even if we have already scheduled games.  It is rare that I wouldn't be given notice in advance, but it can happen from time to time (happened twice early last season - 1st time - FPL emergency maint., and second time - an oversite by the maint. dept. on need to set up for an event later in the day).
      • NO MORE TEXTING: After the first week's games, ALL information will be communicated via this website.  There will no longer be texts sent out to coaches for upcoming gametimes.  The website will be updated each Monday afternoon (around 3pm) with the game times for the upcoming Saturday.  Coaches may check the website and text their players, or they can let their players know that they must check the website each week themselves.  There will also not be any text reminders sent to coaches the day before.  You can however, set up email reminders through the website (ask me how if you'd to set this up)

Roster Limits:  Your roster is limited to 12 Players!  Once a player plays for your team they are locked onto your roster (they can not sub for any other team) and they will count toward your limit.  Roster can not exceed 12 players!
  • Locked Rosters:  Anyone can play during the regular season all the way through the last game (# 8).  As soon as a player plays for a team they are LOCKED to that team, and count towards the team's roster limit.  NO one may sub for another team under any circumstances!

  • Replacement Players:  IF a player is injured or leaves the area, their roster spot may be taken by another player up until game # 7 (they must still play 2 regular season games to qualify for the playoffs, AND pay the player they replaced the % of the fee left during the season if applicable (as a refund to the injured/moving player).
Player Eligibility:  Players must be at least an upcoming HS Sophomore with PARENTAL CONSENT to play.  Also, any player in college with NCAA Division I eligibility remaining is NOT eligible to play under any circumstances.

Forfeits: If a team has less than 4 players, the game will be a forfeit (See below for when a game is declared a forfeit).  In case of a forfeit, players may scrimmage until 10 minutes before the start of the next game.  There will be no Refs, Clock, or Book during scrimmages.
  • At the end of the warmup period if a team has 4 players the game will start (we will not wait for someone who is "in the parking lot" -or- "around the corner").  If a team has LESS than 4 players, an additional 3 minutes will be put on the clock.  At the expiration of the 3 minute "Grace" period,  the coach may elect to give up his 2 first half timeouts to gain an additional 2 minutes of time.  IF these 2 minutes expire before a player is in the gym and READY to play (we won't wait for a player to "get ready", "put shoes on", etc. - they must be READY within the 2 minutes), then the game will be declared a FORFEIT.

Playoffs - Qualifying:  Not all teams will make the playoffs!  Last place will not qualify for the playoffs (no matter how many games they win).  Also any team that does not win at least 2 games will not qualify.

Playoffs - Player eligibility:  Minimum # of games played to qualify for playoffs is 2 games played!  Subs who have played in 2 regular season games are eligible for playoffs, however they must still pay the sub fee of $8 for each playoff game they play.

Conduct:  Technicals for unsportsmanlike conduct will now also constitute a penalty as well!  The player will have to sit out the remainder of the half (or game if it's the 2nd half when the tech occurs).  If tech occurs in the second half, the player may stay for the duration of the game, however they may be asked to leave the building if they become unruly (even without a second technical being callled).  Failure to leave the premises in a timely manner, may cause a suspension for the next game!  2 unsportsmanlike technicals in a game will automatically require player to leave the premises IMMEDIATELY, and suspension from the next game (even if next game is a playoff game).
  • 3 technicals over the course of a season will result in an automatic 1 game suspension (even if next game is a playoff game).  (If it occurs during the team's last playoff game, suspension will be served at the first game of the next season).
  •  If during the season a player has 2 occurances of double technicals in a game-or- accumulates 5 total technicals, it will automatically result in dismissal for the remainder of the season. (if it is the team's last playoff game, player must sit out 2 games at the start of the next season).
  • ANY form of Fighting (shoving a player / hitting a player / punching a player / kicking a player / or any other physical or verbal threat toward another player) is an automatic ban from the league.  IT IS AN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE BUILDING, or Police will be called!
  • Physical actions or verbal threats towards any staff member will also automatically result in a ban from the league.  IT IS AN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE BUILDING, or Police will be called!

The changes listed in this article supercede any previous rules either printed or listed elsewhere on this website.

Thank you for your understanding.  These modifications will help ensure a smoother season for everyone!

Roster Rules

September 25, 2013

The following Roster rules are in effect with the Start of the 2013 Fall League...

1) Rosters are limited to 9 regular players.

2) Substitutes are allowed.  Substitutes must fill out paperwork BEFORE warming up or playing.  Subs must bring a jersey of their own.  Sub fee is $ 10 per game.  Sub fees will be applied to a teams outstanding balance (or to the next season's fee if team is paid in full).  Subs are "locked" to that team for the remainder of the season.  They may not sub with another team.

3) Absolutely NO subs from other teams!

4) Playoff Rosters are limited to 10 rostered players.  Rostered Players only!  Subs do not qualify for playoffs, unless they take the place of an injured player / or a player who leaves the area.  Players must have played at least 2 regular season games to qualify for playoffs (including a sub who replaces a rostered player).

NO EXCEPTIONS - NO HARDSHIPS!

Start of Game Rules

Effective with the Fall 2013 Season...

1) Gametime published on the website for the first game is the start time for the day.  Game will start if both teams have at least 4 rostered players.  We will not wait for a 5th player to arrive, or for him to "get dressed".  Game time is start time!  If a team does not have 4 rostered players at the game start time, the clock will run for 5 minutes before a forfeit is declared.  A team may get 2 extra minutes before forfeiting if they give up their timeouts for the first half.  If a game is declared a forfeit, the teams may play pickup.

2)  The 2nd game of the day (and all games after that) will start after a 7 minute warmup period.  Once the warmup clock expires, the same rules are in effect in regards to forfeits (See Rule # 1).

3) A warning horn will be signaled with 1 minute remaining on the warmup clock.  This is the time to set lineups, huddle with team etc.  Balls will be collected and put away during this time also.  Both teams should be at the jump circle at the expiration of the warmup clock.

* Unforeseen delays in gym setup is the only reason why the first game would start late.
