2019 Open Tryout/Assessment Information

Welcome to the Woolwich Youth Soccer Club tryouts/assessments! We are pleased to be able to offer the following ages/genders:

U9 - Boys & Girls

U10 - Boys & Girls

U12 - Boys & Girls

U14 - Boys & Girls

U15 - Boys & Girls

U16 - Girls

U17 - Girls

U18 - Boys & Girls

As always, in lieu of charging a fee, the Woolwich Youth Soccer Club will be accepting donations to the Woolwich Community Services Food Bank. You can bring cash and/or food to each session. Thank you!

Please note the following ages/genders will not be holding tryouts at this time: U11 Boys & Girls, U13 Boys & Girls, U16 Boys, U17 Boys. If you are interested in these ages, please either register or email the club directly to show your interest. These ages will only have a team if enough interest is shown and a coach steps up.

PROCESS

Players are asked to pre-register ONLINE for the open tryouts.  REGISTER HERE

• No paper registration forms will be accepted for this program – all families must register online;

• There is no tryout fee but we ask you to bring a food/cash donation to each session 

• The online registration period is open to Sept 30th
  

• Players are expected to attend at least TWO sessions during this process. Please contact the coach if you cannot meet this commitment.

SCHEDULE

ALL ASSESSMENTS AND TRYOUTS TAKE PLACE AT LIONS PARK

ALL U13+ SESSIONS ARE 1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES IN LENGTH

ALL U9-U12 SESSIONS ARE 1 HOUR IN LENGTH

NEXT STEPS:

• Once you have registered, the player must sign-in at the field tent at the each session and receive their player number.

• Players are asked to arrive at the designated field tent 15-20 minutes prior to the start of their session.

• Players must wear standard equipment: shorts, jersey, shin pads, outdoor cleats, sunscreen and must bring water.

• All players are asked to NOT wear their club jerseys.

• It is highly recommended that players attend their own age group sessions: U9-2010, U10-2009, U11-2008, U12-2007, U13-2006, U14-2005, U15-2004, U16-2003, U17-2002, U18-2001.)

• Players who solely choose to attend an older age group session run the risk of not making a travel team. All underage players are subject to review and approval by the Technical Director
• Please note that some teams may choose to have additional tryout sessions during or after the assigned weeks.

PLAYER SELECTION PROCESS - U13+

Age group open assessments are conducted. All players will be contacted whether they are successful or not. All underage players are subject to review and approval by WYSC Technical Director.

GRASSROOTS AGE GROUPS U9-U12

Following the conclusion of the final outdoor open assessment, the selection process of the pool of players will commence. Not all players may be selected to continue in the development program. The selection process will be conducted by the technical coaches and appointed age group coaches. Selection will be based on team viability as well as player appropriateness for the level at which the team will play. Players not selected may continue in the house league group and potentially be considered for call up during the season.
