New Age Requirements for 2015

August 18, 2014

Tee Ball is now known as "6U." Unlike soccer, the u follows the 6, as this level is for players "6 and Under." Currently, your "baseball age is how old you are on May 1 of the year in question, although that will be in a state of change between now and 2018.

Generally for the first year players who are ages 5 and 6.  In 2015, to be eligible, you must be born between May 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010.

Practices begin in April, two nights per week, and are usually on a set schedule—Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday from 6PM-7:15PM or something similar. Games begin in May and the season usually lasts six or seven games, ending as public school does.  Games are not guaranteed to be on the same schedule, but are played on a weeknight with rare exceptions.

Home field is New Covenant adjacent to Route 72. We participate with Union Canal and North Cornwall and play away games against them. Players get a hat, a shirt and a trophy at the end of the year.  Coaches pitch underhand to the kids for three pitches with a “Reduced Injury Factor” ball which is much softer than a “real” baseball. If the player does not hit the ball, they hit from the tee. Runs and wins/losses are not counted. Everybody bats every inning. Tee ball rules can be found here.
