Coach O’s 2018-19 Season Quote:

“Greatness lies within...How hard and how long are you willing to search and
work to find the greatness that lies within you?!”

Coach Francis is in his sixth year with the Lancers. He was born and raised in New Jersey, where he played basketball for Atlantic County Community College for 2 years. He moved to Thousand Oaks in 1987. He was on the staff at Westlake High School from 1995 until 2002 where he served  as the Soph-Frosh coach for 2 years and then became an assistant coach to the varsity for the remaining years.

He has been active for over 25 years in baseball and basketball in the Conejo Valley. He has two sons Derrick and Dylan.

“Play Hard, Smart, and Together” is what Coach Jay Werner adheres to. Coach Werner has always been into athletics. He played football, golf, and track & field at Agoura High School where he graduated in 1977. He then attended Pierce College, where he played two years of football. He has always been a basketball junkie and upon attending San Diego State, he would often stay up until 2am watching and studying the game on the new sports network, ESPN.

Coach Werner started his coaching career at Polytechnic High School, coaching the boys’ varsity basketball team for ten years and winning a L.A. City Divisional  Championship in 1999. He then moved onto Los Angeles Valley College and coached the men’s basketball team for 5 years as an assistant and head coach. He was part of teams that won 3 conference titles and had one state final four appearance in 2000. He has also done stints with Los Angeles Valley and Glendale College women’s teams. This will be Coach Werner’s fifth year at Thousand Oaks High.

Coach Werner is grateful for his family, wife Linda, and his kids AJ, Sally and Samantha.
