NECAL Co-Ed Rules (Addendum)

The following rules are unique to the NECAL Co-Ed League and pertain ONLY to that league...

NECAL Co-Ed Softball Rules
1. If a male batter is walked by the pitcher he automatically gets second base. If a female batter is walked by the pitcher she automatically gets first base.
a. ANY TIME , a male batter is walked, the following female batter has the option of taking an automatic walk to first base or batting normally.
2. In order to play in the league the player must be at least 14 years of age.
a. Any players under 18 years of age may only play right field or catcher.
3. Male batters will hit an approved USSSA 12” ball.
4. Female batters will hit an approved USSSA 11” ball.
5. In order to start a game each team must have at least 8 players consisting of a minimum of 4 male and 4 female players. Under no situation may a team play more male players than female players in the field There must be 5 male players and 5 female players in the field at all times except under the following two exceptions
a. If playing with eight players a team may play with 4 male players and 4 female players in the field
b. If playing with nine players a team may play with 4 male players and 5 female players in the field
6. As in the men’s league, a team may bat up to 16 players. A team may bat an unequal number of male and female batters as long as the team alternates male and female batters so there are never two batters of the same gender consecutively.
7. The following rule applies only to games played at Paradise Valley Park on the West field: If a player hits a ball over the outfield fence or wall the batter is called out and is suspended for the remainder of the current game as well as the next game the team plays. If a batter hits a ball over the fence, or the wall, a second time the player is suspended from play in the NECAL coed division for the remainder of the season and playoffs. The above are minimum suspensions and can be lengthened, but not shortened, at the discretion of the league director or NECAL commissioner. There is no exception to this rule regardless of the situation since our ability to rent Paradise Valley Park from the city of Phoenix is contingent upon this rule being followed and enforced.
