Eagle Scout Facts

July 14, 2017

Achieving Eagle Scout has always carried with it a special significance, not only in Scouting but also when entering higher education, business or industry, and community service. The award is a performance-based achievement whose standards have been well-maintained over the years.

Not everyone who joins a Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 4 percent of all Scouts do so. This represents more than 1 million Scouts who have earned the rank since 1911. Nevertheless, the goals of Scouting - citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness - remain important for all Scouts, whether or not they attain the Eagle Scout rank.

Troop 77 leadership is very dedicated to all Scouts regardless of which of the many aspects of Scouting the individual boy chooses to pursue. Troop 77 is highly respected throughout Chief Okemos District, Water and Woods FSC for the sheer number of Scouts in our Troop that choose to pursue the Eagle rank... and accomplish their goal!

Steps For Obtaining Council/District Signature on Project Proposal

July 14, 2017

The fourth and final signature a Scout needs to have their Eagle project proposal approved (see form in packet), is from a District/Council representative. In order to get this review/signature, Scouts need to leave the original (be sure to keep a copy of entire packet) with any "before" pictures and attachments at the Council office with Nathan Chance, Registrar. Mr. Chance logs the submission and Rich Vestula, Eagle Project guru, stops in periodically and reviews the project proposal, makes recommendations, as necessary, and approves or doesn't approve the Scout moving ahead with the project. Mr. Chance then calls the Scout to let them know they can come pick up their packet. Here is the address they need:.
