Since 1968, the La Canada Gladiators have been proud members of the San Gabriel Valley Conference of Junior All-American Football. The Gladiators program has served as the initial football and cheer experience for many local high schools, including La Canada High, Loyola, Saint Francis, Crescenta Valley, Flintridge Prep, and Pasadena Poly.

The Gladiators Football and Cheerleading Program is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 14 years. The Gladiator program fields six divisional teams, with football organized according to strict age and weight guidelines. All teams are coached by an experienced group of adults, most with previous coaching and college playing experience. Each Gladiator Football team participates in an eight to ten game schedule against teams from nearly thirty cities that are represented in the conference.

Home games are played at La Canada High School's Spartan Stadium. All of the games are officiated by experienced CIF referees.

While acquiring football and cheerleading skills is important, the La Canada Gladiator Program also emphasizes scholastic achievement, good sportsmanship and citizenship. All participants must maintain a minimum 2.0 G.P.A. throughout the season, and those scholar-athletes attaining a 3.3 G.P.A. are awarded a scholar-athlete patch at the end of the season in recognition of their athletic and classroom achievements.

The San Gabriel Valley Conference of Junior All-American Football also annually awards a Scholastic Trophy to the team in each division having the highest combined grade point average. With great pride, Gladiator teams have claimed the scholastic trophy more than 21 times in the past 25 years. A scholarship trophy is also awarded to the individual Gladiator football player and cheerleader possessing the highest G.P.A. on each of the teams.

Stressing both athletics and education helps develop a well-rounded individual. The ultimate goal of the Gladiator Program is to instill in the participants keen athletic citizenship and scholastic skills that will remain with these fine young men and women long after they have left the Gladiator Program.
