Please click on the link above to learn more about the USA Football Heads Up Program.  JBK Coaches Steve Schmidt, Kevin Barnes and Andre Lucas are certified Heads Up Instructors and we will be adding Dante Clack to this list this year.  They are tasked with teaching all JBK coaches the new techniques of Heads Up Tackling.  All of our coaches will be trained using this new technique, and every player in our league will be taught these new methods of tackling, from the youngest Mighty Mite to the oldest D3 player.

The Heads Up initiative is a brand new concept designed to not only improve player safety, but to re-introduce tackling and blocking fundementals to youth football.  Heads Up is endorsed and supported by the NFL, and is even being utilized by some high school and college programs.  Every team in the OCYFL is going to be required to train their coaches in the Heads Up method of tackling this season.  Coach Schmidt and Barnes have taken the training the past 3 years, as JBK has been out front in this new method since it was rolled out in April of 2013. With further training this year, plus with the 2013, 2014, 2015 training under their belt, they will be more than qualified to instruct our coaches in this new technique, so we can begin teaching our players for the 2016 season.
