CW Defends CVS Title!

Our Golden Eagles are once again at on top of the Nike Central Valley Showdown after a 30 point win against the defending Valley Champion Stockdale Mustangs of Bakersfield.

All 4 wins saw tremendous team play by our Golden Eagles with each player playing their heart out for one another.

This is the 2nd Championship in a row for Clovis West in the CVS after they defeated St. Mary's last year in the championship.

Katie Ogdon, Janae Coffee and Se'nyce Parrish were all selected to the All-Tournament Team and Brianna Orlich was selected as the tournament MVP.  Congratulations girls!

CWHS finishes 4th

Our Golden Eagles finished 4th place in the Nike Iolani Classic after dropping to #22 Southridge of Oregon.

The final standings for the tournament were:

1st Place Long Beach Poly, CA (#7 nationally)
2nd Place St. Michael Academy, NY (#2 nationally)
3rd Place Southridge, OR (#22 nationally)
4th Place  Clovis West
5th Place Iolani, HA
6th Place Konawaena, HA
7th Place Mid Pacific, HA
8th Place Kahuku, HA

Janae Coffee was recognized as an All-Tournament selection.

This was a great trip for our girls culturally, for team building, and for the level of competition.
EAGLES FALL SHORT

Taking on defending NY state champion St. Michael Academy (NY) last night, our Golden Eagles fought valiantly before falling short 62-42 in the Nike Iolani Classic.

St. Michael Academy is currently #2 in the nation.  Without standout senior Brianna Orlich (hurt her knee the night before), our Lady Eagles were within 7 points late in the 3rd before senior Senyce Parrish went down after a head collision which left her head split open.  Senyce was able to be bandaged up and return but St. Michael had extended the lead to 16.

All the girls displayed the intensity, character, and effort that would make all Golden Eagles fans proud.  Although we were outmanned, our girls refused to be outworked or outclassed.

The girls now take on #22 in the country Southridge of Oregon tonight.  Wish us luck!

GOLDEN EAGLES ADVANCE!!!

Our CW Golden Eagles had a resounding win in the first round of the Nike Iolani Classic in Oahu with a 78-36 first round win over Kahuku HS (currently ranked #7 in Hawaii).

Our ladies will advance to take on the #2 team in the nation--St. Michael Academy out of New York on Friday!

Keep checking back and wish us luck!

GO EAGLES!

ALOHA FROM HAWAII!!!

Aloha to all our family, friends, and fans!  The varsity team is having a fantastic time in Hawaii and begin competition Thursday night against local Kahuku HS.  3 nationally ranked teams await if we can survive our first game.

There are pictures from our trip in our PHOTO ALBUM tab.  They can be viewed  by going to the PHOTO ALBUM and clicking on the IOLANI CLASSIC-HAWAII 2009 tab.

SPRING FLING RESULTS

The opening tournament of this season’s AAU competition saw every team grow with each game played!  Our 7th & 8th Grade Teams both reached the Championship Game where they fought all the way to the end coming up a few points short.  The 6th Grade Gold Team competed in the Consolation Game but lost a close one.

Keep practicing hard and working each week to improve individually and as a team, and good things will happen!
