width="250" height="300" align="right" class="right"/>Metro basketball is focused on recreational play for players from the age of 5-14. All players register individually using the convenience of our online registration system. The league sorts players by age and form rosters by considering the player's school, subdivision, and general area. Friendship Team are also available to allow a group of friends to play together in league ball, however there are guidelines in place to promote fair competition. SDNBP rules require a minimum amount of playing time for each player. SDNBP conducts Metro basketball Summer and Winter seasons, with the Summer session focusing on player development while the Winter season is a more competitive format.
5U and 6U teams play basketball with progresses from 6 foot high goal, 27in. diameter ball, 10 feet freethrow line. For 7-8 year olds, 7 foot high goal, 28.5in. diameter ball, 12 feet freethrow line. From ages 9 years olds and up 10 foot high goal, 29in. diameter ball, 15 feet freethrow line. The goal of these divisions is to teach the basics and fundamentals of basketball preparing them for the older age brackets. Metro players will play with each age group progressing to a restricted set of rules designed to assist with the development of the players.
Metro classification games are played Monday through Thursday (6:00 PM or 8:00 PM) and on some Saturday. Schedules may include designated facilities. Forfits will not be rescheduled
