CSSE FUTSAL TOURNAMENT UNDERWAY

FACILITY LOCATED AT 530 SHEPPARD STREET

This week marks the beginning of a new direction for the soccer school as we host our first of what we hope to be an annual Spring break Futsal Tournament.  There are 26 teams playing in 6 divisions and the 4 on 4 game seems to be a big hit with all involved. The games are a packed house standing room only even with the new viewer benches installed.  All the games are being played in the evening with the exception of Friday and Saturday where games will be playing all day starting at 8:00 am Friday and 9:00 on Saturday.  Come out and watch a game and see Manitoba's first official futsal court and some of Manitoba's youngest futsal players take to the court.

CSSE / Stonewall United Men

The team competed this past weekend in Kenora Ontario and were undefeated.  After 4 wins and 1 tie the team came home yesterday with 5th place, or winning the C side of the event.  The only tie was to the winners of the A side from Brandon.  Placement of the team aided in keeping the team out of the A side.  Look out Kenora we will be back.

SAN MARINO CUP 2013

CSSE IMPACT BOYS

GAME 1 Vs Serbia

Team played well but came up short with opponent scoring on two set pieces.  One from a free kick and the other was a corner kick.

GAME 2 - Vs Venizula

The boys played very well today with a first half tie of 0-0.  Then off a corner kick Luka Z got a shot which deflected and Dylan finished it making it 1-0.  The momentum carried and the team put another in the back of the net with a break away goal by Robert.  Unfortunately the Venezuelans did not break and with hard pressure in the end of the second half they scored on a header from a free kick.

Worthy note was that at one point in the game the defense broke down and Kris came up big for the boys stealing a break away opportunity from the opponent.

GAME 3 - Vs USA

Game started on time 9:30 am with a temperature of 34 degrees.  Field conditions excellent.  One injured player "Ievan Maric"  Starting formation 4-3-3.  We scored in the 20th minute on a give and go on the left side and Dylan scored on the goal keepers left side scratching the far post.  We score again in the 26th minute on a combination play that started with Lucas VDB to Dylan. Dylan then dribbled a player split the center back and left defender leaving William B on a penetrating run down the top of the 18 yard box 1v1 with the keeper sending a driving low shot underneath the goal keepers hands. First half ends 2-0 in our favour.

Started the second half with the same intemsity playing a great possesion game combining all around the park.  Confidence on the field was high and after 25 consecutive passes between our defenders attackers and midfielders the was given to Dylan on the top of the box. Dylan took on 3 men on a flat run dribbled then took a powerful strike at the right top corner.  The goalie got his hands on it but not enough to stop the shot.  3-0 at the 45th minute.  Players still playing simple soccer even though the USA team was pressuring high but just how the players believe in themself after scoring the last goal it continued and in the 54th minute a middle distant shot rebounded to Gavin who dribbled a player, and took a second shot placing it through the defenders and into the net.

Final Score CSSE 4 - USA 0

GAME 4 - QUARTER FINALS Vs Misano Italy Team

Team played to perfection in the first half coming up with one goal in the 20th minute.  Zack N read the play and took advantage of a mistake made by the Italian keeper to his defender.  The always optimistic Zack battled head to head with the Italian Goal Keeper and after a scramble in front of the net Zack came out of no where to poke the ball into the back of the net. Played smart the rest of the first half and continured to pressure the Italian squad with caution.  Made a few changes and now played with 2 defensive midfielders.

Our defense held the Italian squad to perfection and the opponent became chippy making foul after foul.  The boys calm tempo and cool composure frustrated the Italian team who recieved 2 yellow cards.  They were diving in and around the box and forcing Kris to make a great save after which was given a yellow card himself which made no sense but a sigh of relief when no penalty kick was given.  Gavin substituted in as the enforcer to give the Italian defense a hard time and that he did sending the keeper to the ground to make a miraculous save only to have the ball rebound back to Dylan's feet who chipped the ball over the net.

Final score CSSE 1 - Italy Misano 0

GAME 5 - SEMI-FINALS Vs Serbia

Semi Final game vs the team we lost to in game 1 and they have not lost a game yet.  Weather cloudy and rain showers.  Late start due to previous semi final which went into overtime and penalty shots.  A few more bumps and bruises put Ievan back on the injured list to start off game 5.  Same formation 4-3-3 using again 2 defensive midfielders.  A cornor kick by Lucas VDB into the middle of the six yard box found Dylan waiting to head it into the net clipplng the crossbar before entering the net.  Stats given for first half: Shots - 7 / Shots on target - 4 / Saves - 2 / Crosses  -  3     Corners - 1 / Goals 1 in the 20th minute.

Second half CSSE came out to play!!!!!  Serbia matched the intensity pressing the CSSE defense.  The team defended well in the middle third of the field keeping the Serbians at a safe distance.  A quick turn over in the middle of the field gave the ball to Dylan who quickly shifted the momentum carrying the ball in a diagonal run beating a couple of players at full speed taking a middle distance shot at 35 yards which sailed over the 6 foot keeper into the net.

Final Score CSSE 2 - Serbia 0

GAME 6 - GOLD MEDAL GAME Vs USA White Plains Rockets

The gold medal went to CSSE I after a 1-1 full game tie, penalty kkicks had to determine a winner.  CSSE scored 4 out of 5 while USA scored only 3. Kris Aguiar came up big for the team saving 2.

CONGRADULATIONS TO THE CSSE TEAM!!!

DAY 4 Friendly Game "CSSE vs FC LaRoca

April 14th 2014

A very busy day for the girls.
Today they had a 1.5 hour training session in the morning followed by their first Friendly Game against a Spanish team FC Laroca. CSSE Impact Ladies scored first as dictated by the coach
"They approached the game and put the opponent well under pressure, Alyssa and Dahlal team pressure on the our right side of the field led to a overturn of the ball which a scrambled and team passing led to a loose ball on the 30 yards which Hannah P found a first time shot and notice Opponent GK off her line and just like RAPIDO, Hannah Chip the GK and Score in the First 15 minutes of the game."

Final score at the half ended with our opponent scoring 3 goals which included 1 penalty shot and a free kick in the top corner making it impossible for Emily to stop.

We came out in the second half ready to play. Chico substitutes 4 new players at half time with fresh legs and played extremely well, moving in transition up and down the field. Shifting from right to left as a unit. The team had the opportunity after opportunity never giving up and battling every loose ball right to the end but unfortunately we just ran out off time. Ending the second half with a 0-0 score.
The girls walk out with there heads held high and the coach added "players depth in the team showed very well. I am happy with the teams performance and happy that the team left everything on the field.

Update on Evan Barker

Evan travelled to England for the tryout with Crystal Palace and unfortunately did not pass the physical due to his hip flexor injury. This is the reason he is now home, to get treatment, both physio and chiropractic for his hip flexor. He has been invited back for a tryout, however, since then, Crystal Palace has gone into receivership, so at this time in the communications with the club they have stated they will contact us when they have sorted out their finances. So it will be a wait and see situation. Evan also went to Iceland and played 6 professional games there with IBV. Get well soon Evan and show them what you've got.

Chico’s School of Soccer Excellence (CSSE) is pleased and excited to announce that CSSE player, Kyle Andrade has been selected to the final roster for the re-vamped Winnipeg Alliance FC.

Seventeen-year-old Kyle Andrade made the final cut and has signed an amateur contract to play for the Winnipeg Alliance Football Club of the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League (CMISL). Andrade is the youngest player out of the 60 who tried out last October in Winnipeg to be offered a contract.

"The other youngest player is 20 years old," explained Andrade, who plays either midfield or striker position. "It feels great to know that my play is at the calibre of people much older than I am .It was really nice to hear and I was really excited," said Andrade, who learned he'd made the final list of 21 players last week. "I thought I had a good tryout, but you never know the age factor could always come into play."

Andrade's father, Chico, who used to play in the PASL himself, says he's extremely proud that his son's hard work has paid off. “He works really hard in school and a lot of people don't see him at night doing homework until two or three in the morning," he says. "He also works really hard on his fitness and training, so it's nice to see him succeed." Chico says playing and traveling with the Alliance will be a great opportunity for Andrade, who plans on playing professional soccer after he finishes post secondary school. “It lets him keep playing, and gives him a little more experience, which he needs," he says. "I'm very happy for him."
