NCAA Student-Athlete Eligibility Requirements (Division I and II)

 

I.                 NCAA Freshman-Eligibility Standards (Division I and II)

B.    Division I (See Handout, includes worksheet)

1.     16 Core Class Rule.

a.     4 years of English

b.     3 years of Mathematics (Algebra I or higher)

c.     2 years of Natural/Physical Science (1 year lab if available)

d.     1 year additional of any of the above

e.     2 years of social science

f.      4 years additional courses (see handout)

C.    Division II (See Handout, includes worksheet; BUT rules change 8/1/13)

1.     14 Core Class Rule

a.     3 years of English

b.     2 years of Mathematics (Algebra I or higher)

c.     2 years of Natural/Physical Science (1 year lab if available)

d.     2 years of additional of any of the above

e.     2 years social science

f.      3 years of additional courses (see handout)

      D. Make sure you check with NCAA for APPROVED core courses.

 

II.              NCAA Clearinghouse Requirement

B.    Click on “Prospective Student-Athlete” and follow directions.

1.     Purpose: You MUST do this to be eligible to play at any University.

C.    Students should go to their registrar office at their high school to request transcripts sent her after their 2nd Semester grades are posted their JUNIOR year. Then again once there diploma is conferred.

 

III.            SAT and ACT Tests (Student-Athletes need to start taking JUNIOR year)

1.     Look at dates and locations. Take as many as needed to get score needed according to NCAA scale and student-athlete G.P.A.

2.     Usually used by West Coast Institutions.

IV.            Player Profile

A. Fill out information and get a picture and unofficial transcripts together by JUNIOR year.
