Maryland State Wrestling Tournament

QO took six wrestlers to this year’s MD State Tournament and with two Cougars placing and several others securing wins the team tied for 13th place overall. Eli Bienstock took 3rd place in the 112 lb weight class to close out his second consecutive season placing at States after finishing 2nd last year. Reed Neubaum as well placed for his second consecutive year and closed out a stellar career at QO by taking 2nd place in the 160 lb weight class. Earlier this season Reed became QO's all time wins leader and pushed his total wins to 132, which I'm sure will stand for a long time. Way to go Reed! Little brother Gage didn't have too shabby a year either by getting to states in just his sophomore year!  Brendan Wills finished out a great senior season by making his first visit to States. Greg Holland and Austin Williams both secured two wins to finish in the top eight of their respective weight classes. 3A-4A West Region Tournament

All eight wrestlers placed at the 2010 Regional Tournament and helped Quince Orchard secure 2nd place as a team for the second consecutive week! Six of the eight advanced to states next weekend at UM's Cole Field House by placing 4th or better. Congratulations and oustanding job team! Photos

Region Duals

Let's say it was not QO's night. Clarksburg wins the match over QO then they fall to Whitman 36-35 (Whitman forfeits last match). Whitman now advances to the Dual State Tournament Finals next Tuesday at North County HS.

QO over Einstein 70-10

The QO team overpowered an under-matched Einstein team by posting 7 falls, a major decision and receiving four forfeits. Arnold Olali, Gage Neubaum, Brendan Wills, Greg Turlik, Jake Kowalski, Aaron Addison and Austin Williams pinned their opponents while Eli Bienstock had a major decision. Pictures

Down 33-15 with four bouts left QO stormed back to take this match. Great job wrestlers! Pictures

Pins are the name of the game in Tri-meet

QO started off the first of two dual matches by pinning its way to victory over Poolesville by a score of 49-30. This match featured 11 pins out of 14 matches. Poolesville started off with two pins at 142 and 147, but then QO came back with five straight pins at 154, 162, 173,191, and 217 to go up and stay up for this match. Next up was Northwest. It looked like this match was going to be a repeat of the first with Northwest starting out with a pin and then QO coming back with four straight pins. But unfortunately for the Cougars Northwest had a few more pins on the day taking the last three matches, one on injury default and two by pins to come from behind and pull out the win.

QO Continues To Roll!

QO took 11 of 14 matches against Seneca Valley to start off last Saturday's tri-meet at Damascus. Then QO dismantled once beaten Damascus 47-25 to complete a sweep for the day. Pictures

QO Places Third Overall at Hub Cup!

The QO team placed nine wrestlers in the top six, three overall champions, and Reed Neubaum is awarded the Outstanding Wrestler Award at the 23rd annual tournament. Reed had two falls and a tech fall in the final to earn the award for the top wrestler in the tournament as voted by the coaches. Congratulations to Reed, champions and team!

Whitman JV Tournament
