Gianna Via's scored four times in the top of the sixth to break up a 4-4 tie.  Joe Aul and Zack Galasso homered for the eighth seeded Commandos.  Mike McCarthy led the Snappers with three hits who also received a home run from Pat McCarthy.

A five run top of the seventh was just enough for the number one seeded Railyard Grill.  The Snappers entered the final frame in a 2-2 deadlock before their outburst.  They needed the big inning as Gianna Via's scored three times in their last at bat they closed the score to 7-5.  Billy Wasko had two hits for the winning side.  Klye Lucot and Jayson Monroe each had two hits for the Commandos.

 

GAME 3.......RAILYARD GRILL SNAPPERS....14.......GIANNA VIA'S RESTAURANT....4

 

Railyard Grill scored in five of their six at bats tonight on the way to a series clinching win over Gianna Via's Restaurant.  The score was tied at one until the Snappers scored either three or four runs in each of the final four frames.  Pat McMarthy led the winners with three hits who also got a pair each from John Zilles, Mike McCarthy, Pat Trettle and Tyler Holland.  Kyle Lucot, along with brothers Joe and Patrick Aul had two hits each for the Commandos.  Mike McCarthy of Railyard Grill hit the only home run of the night.

 

 

Bethel Park & South Park 

 

GAME 1.......SOUTH PARK....12.......BETHEL PARK....1 

South Park picked up the six inning win with the combination of strong pitching and contagious hitting.  Matt Mish struck out five and allowed just three hits over five innings of work to pick up the win.  Dylan Pounds lead South Park with a four for four night.  Dylan Kugler and Ryan Dodson each had three hits for the winners.  Vince D'Orazio did the same for Bethel Park.

GAME 2.......SOUTH PARK....7....BETHEL PARK....2

South Park moves onto the semi finals for the third time in four years with tonight's 7-2 victory over Bethel Park.  Winning pitcher Nick Arnoni struck out five and allowed just five hits and no walks in the game, the two runs he gave up were both unearned.  Adam Dodson then add three more strikeouts over the last two frames to record the save.  Chad Jacob's three run homer in the third was the big blow for the winners.  Anthony Monaco's two run single in the fifth put the game out of reach.  Rob Moresetti had three hits for the Barons.     

 

Quinn Construction & Plum

 

GAME 1.......QUINN CONSTRUCTION....6.......PLUM....0

Ryan Kandsberger turned in a five hit, one walk shutout to pick up the win for Quinn Construction.  The Mudcats put up three runs in the first inning and coasted the rest of the way until scoring three more times in the sixth.  Plum's Noah Shannon lead both teams with two hits. 

GAME 2.......QUINN CONSTRUCTION....5.......PLUM....1

Jim Pasquine hit a two run home run in the top of the first for Quinn Construction who went on to build a 4-0 lead after four frames.  Tom Simcho made it hold up to record the mound victory as he allowed just a run on four hits and a walk over four and two thirds innings.  AJ Olasz pitched the rest of the way to pick up the save.  Zack Miller and Eric Morrison led the winning Mudcats with a pair of hits each. 

 

Pasquales' Pizzeria & Pittsburgh Rebels

 

GAME 1.......PASQUALE'S PIZZERIA....1.......PITTSBURGH REBELS....0

Max Hegedus homered in the second inning for the only run of the game.  Luke Padezan earned the win for Pasquale's as he allowed just five hits and a walk.  In the win, the Blue Jays defense twice cut down runners at third base, including the second out in the seventh inning.  Carson Rebel knocked out two hits for the Rebels. 

GAME 2.......PITTSBURGH REBELS....11.......PASQUALE'S PIZZERIA....10

Caron Rebel's drove home the tie breaking run in the bottom of the seventh as the Rebel's force a deciding third game.  The Rebels started out fast with four in the first on their way to a 7-2 lead after three innings.  Pasquale's responded with five in the fourth and three more in the fifth to lead 10-7.  The Rebels scored three runs in the sixth, the last one on a balk, to even the game before walking off with the win in their last at bat.  Arron Crist lead the winners with three hits.  Matt Bradburn and Dylan Ernst did the same for the Blue Jays.

GAME 3.......PITTSBURGH REBELS....3.......PASQUALE'S PIZZERIA....0

The first year Pittsburgh Rebels move onto the semi finals by defeating Pasquale's Pizzeria 3-0.  Brett Wilner recorded the complete game, two hit, one walk shutout.  The sixth inning ended when the Rebels Tylor Barnot threw out the would be tying run at the plate who was trying to score on a single to right field.  Using that spark, the Rebels then scored two insurance runs in the top of the seventh.  Mike Dolan and Carson Rebel had two hits each for the winners.

Quinn Construction & South Park

 

GAME 1.......SOUTH PARK....5.......QUINN CONSTRUCTION....4

 

Greg Schneider's two run homer in the third gave Quinn Construction an early 4-1 advantage.  South Park cut the lead to one in the fifth when Chad Jacob delivered a two run, two out double.  South Park scored twice again in the seventh after the Mudcats where unable to turn two double plays.  Dylan Pounds and Alex LaBarbera had a pair of hits each for South Park.  Pounds picked up the win by allowing only a hit and two walks during three shutout innings.  Starting pitcher Adam Dodson held Quinn Construction to a pair of hits and three walks in the first four innings.

 

GAME 2.......SOUTH PARK....2.......QUINN CONSTRUCTION....1

 

South Park used four first inning hits to score twice for the early lead and then held on for the series clinching 2-1 win.  Nick Arnoni pitched the first five innings to pick up the victory as he allowed two hits and three walks while striking out six.  Matt Mich gave up just a walk as he struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief to record the save.  2014 was the only previous time South Park was in the finals as they look to win their first ever DNL title.  The loss ended Quinn Construction's run of five consecutive years in the championship round.  Chad Jacob and Carter Grote had two hits each for the winners.     

 

 

Pittsburgh Rebels & Railyard Grill Snappers

 

GAME 1....RAILYARD GRILL SNAPPERS....4.......PITTSBURGH REBELS....1

Railyard Grill's John Bachman shutout the Rebels on just two hits, while walking none and striking out three.  The Snappers scored twice in the third and pulled away in the bottom of the sixth with another pair of runs.  Joe Lowen and John Zilles, with two hits each, led the winners who also got a solo home run from Pat Trettle.  Rebles starting pitcher Mike Dolan held the Snappers in check early, limiting them to one hit and two walks.  Dolan, who pitched just in six regular season innings, tired and exited the mound after three innings.

 

GAME 2.......RAILYARD GRILL SNAPPERS....6.......PITTSBURGH REBELS....3

 

Railyard Grill had just one hit in the first five innings as they trailed the Pittsburgh Rebels 2-1.  A dropped fly ball in the sixth inning gave the Snappers the spark they needed as they followed that up with three consecutive hits to lead 3-2The Rebels answered right back with a run in the bottom of the sixth to even the score.  In the top of the seventh Railyard Grill again knocked out three hits in a row as they went on to win 6-3 and move into the finals.  The Snappers will be in search of their second DNL crown, the first came in 2015.  Logan Urtz picked up the relief win for Railyard Grill as he retired all five batters he faced.  Rebels starter Mason Miller went 5 1/3 innings and allowed just one hit, two walks and only one earned run.  Pat McCarthy was the batting leader this evening with three hits.

Railyard Grill Snappers & South Park

Pat Trettle's three run homer in the first inning put Railyard Grill ahead 3-2 and ended the scoring for the game.  South Park scored twice in the top of the inning on a two out, two run single by Dylan Pounds, the first of three hits for him tonight.  Brian Warheit picked up the win for the Snappers as he allowed eight hits and a walk over seven innings.  Chad Jacob has two hits for South Park.  Railyard Grill Pat McCarthy's diving catch in right field ended the fourth inning and prevented at least one run from scoring.

GAME 2.......SOUTH PARK....2.......RAILYARD GRILL SNAPPERS....1

South Park's Nick Arnoni picked up the win by limiting Railyard Grill to one run on three hits and three walk while striking out five over the first six innings.  Dylan Pounds hit a batter in the seventh but was still able to record the save.  Dylan Kugler, who had three hits tonight, singled home a pair of runs with two outs in the second to start the scoring.  Ryan Dodson added two hits for the winners.  Catcher Tyler Amedure threw out two would be base stealers to lead South Park's defense.

GAME 3.......SOUTH PARK....6.......RAILYARD GRILL SNAPPERS....2

South Park used the good timing of the Dodson brothers to down Railyard Grill.  Ryan Dodson drove in the first three runs of the game with singles in the first and third innings.  The lead grew to 5-1 after five frames when starting pitcher Adam Dodson exited the game.  He picked up the win by being able to hold the Snappers to just one run while giving up three hits and four walks along with hitting a batter.  Railyard Grill loaded the bases with one out in both the first and sixth innings, but was only able to score one run.  Dylan Pounds recorded the save by striking out three over the last 1 1/3 innings.  Pat Trettle had a pair of hits for the Snappers.  Chad Jacob did the same for the winners, including a solo homer in the seventh.

GAME 4.......RAILYARD GRILL SNAPPERS....4.......SOUTH PARK....0

Brian Warheit struck out four while allowing just three hits and a walk in Railyard Grill's shutout victory.  Logan Urtz, who had two hits, lifted a solo home run in the top of the fifth to break up the scoreless tie.  The Snappers put three more runs on the board in the sixth to finish the scoring.  Joe Lowen also had a pair of hits for Railyard Grill.  Ryan Dodson delivered two hits for South Park.

GAME 5.......SOUTH PARK....6.......RAILYARD GRILL SNAPPERS....2

 

South Park won their first ever DNL title tonight behind Dylan Pound's ten strikeout performance and an offense lead by three doubles from Chad Jacob.  South Park put two runs on the board in the top of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead.  They then finished off the scoring with three runs in the sixth.  Pounds allowed one earned run on seven hits and a walk with five of his strikeouts coming in the last two innings of the contest.  The winners who also received a pair of hits each from Dylan Kugler, Anthony Monaco, Carter Grote and Ryan Dodson.  Mike Monaco has managed the champions since they joined the league in 2013.  The Snapper got two hits from both Joe Lowen and John Zilles.
