SRU had a great season and expected nothing but to return to Kansas for the Division 2 NCBA World Series. After a long weekend at the regional tournament, SRU defeated West Virginia University 6-2 on a late evening to punch their ticket to the World Series. The Pride was determined to make some noise this year after losing both of their games in last years tournament. After defeating Salisbury 2-0 in game 1, the Rock was faced with #1 seed Florida Gulf Coast University. Powered by a shutout pitching performance, FGCU won 2-0 to send SRU to the losers bracket. Game 3 was a rematch against Salisbury, but SRU was too much for the Seagulls to overcome. Game 3 and 4 were must win games against the #3 seed Ohio State. An incredible pitching performance from SRU pushed them to a 6-0 win in game 1 of the double header. Later that day, the game was too close for comfort and especially for the parents. Going into the bottom of the 7th inning down 1 run, SRU didn't seem to have any momentum. A sharp line drive to OSU's second baseman made a comeback feel almost impossible at that point. Down to the last out, SRU put together a rally and continued their "Never Quit" mentality and walked it off to send Ohio State back to Columbus and SRU to the Championship game. SRU had their ace ready to go, as did Windsor. A solo home run for SRU in the 5th inning was all they needed to get past the boys from Canada to keep the trophy in the States. With a 1-0 victory, Slippery Rock University was crowned the 2017 NCBA Division II National Champions and will forever be recognized in the history books. Congrats boys!!!!!!! #LFTITA
