Pleasantdale Softball Club was started back in 1970 by a group of South Portland High School Seniors. The team played in the the South Portland Recreation League winning the league title that year. Pleasantdale went on to play in the league until 1983 when it left the South Portland League to play in the Portland Softball League. Pleasantdale played in the Orange Division through the 84 season. After the team won the Orange Division in 84 Pleasantdale moved up to the Red Division and played through the 86 season. Pleasantdale then only played in the Masters over 35 State Tournaments for a number of years until a few joined the Over 50 League 12 years ago. Many of the Pleasantdale players after turning 50 joined the various named teams that followed Pleasantdale such as DJ Productions, Bleachers and WahlcoMetroflex. This year (2011) will mark the return of the name of the team to Pleasantdale. Two of the original players on the team are still playing, Bruce Sampson and Jack Powell. Many of the other players have played with Pleasantdale throughout the years. Pleasantdale or their other names has been to two National Tournaments. Pleasantdale Over 35 team went to the National Masters Tournament in Gadston, Alabama in 1992 and WahlcoMetroflex went to San Francisco to the National Senior Games in 2009 winning the Silver Medal.
