Duo uses 4-hitter to lift Merchants

Greg Lunski and Nick Salentine combined on a four-hitter, allowing a run in the third inning as the Jamestown Merchants downed Kindred 9-1 in amateur baseball action Wednesday in Fargo.

Lunski got the win, striking out six. Salentine went the next four, striking out nine.

Jamestown’s offense was relentless, scoring two runs in the second, fourth, fifth and eighth innings. They also had one in the seventh.

Salentine finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Bryan Erstad also had two hits and two RBIs. Scott Stephenson had a home run in the win, which sent the Merchants’ record to 3-1.

The Merchants play Pelican Rapids (Minn.) in a Detroit Lakes (Minn.) tournament at 6:30 p.m. today. The tourney concludes Sunday.
