Merchants get Hairballed

July 8, 2015

Fargo, North Dakota – The Jamestown Merchants had their eight game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Mayville Redcaps Wednesday night at No Name Field.

The Merchants jumped out to the lead scoring a run in the top of first. Greg Lunski started and pitched three scoreless innings before he had to go to the legendary 80's rock cover band, Hairball, at the Red River Valley Fair. Once Greg left it was pretty much downhill for the M’s. A six run fourth and three run fifth for the Redcaps gave them a 9-1 lead after five.

"I know I let my team down and everything, but when the bombastic celebration of arena rock is in town I can't pass that up," chimed Lunski.

The Merchants managed to add three more runs to make the final score 9-4.

Scott Stephenson and Anthony Fontana combined to throw three innings of scoreless relief.

The Merchants will look to get back on track this weekend at the Dale "Gopher" Lien Memorial baseball tournament hosted by the Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants and Shady's Bar. The four team tournament will consist of the Merchants, LaMoure, Mayville, and the Jamestown Elks.
