Merchants rally for 15th victory

The Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants notched their 15th win of the season with a 5-4 win over the Mayville Redcaps last week.

Bryan Erstad went 3-for-3 with two doubles as the Merchants rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Scott Stephenson went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Brady Anderson also had two hits.

Brandon Baumgartner went the first seven innings on the mound. Dan Ross tossed two scoreless frames to get the win in relief.

Next up for the Merchants (15-8) is the Class AAA state tournament at Jack Brown Stadium. The Merchants and Mayville Redcaps are in the same three-team pool in the "AAA" tournament along with the Bismarck Brewers.

The defending "AAA" champion Jamestown Elks, Jamestown Greyhounds and Bismarck Brewers are in the other pool. The tournament begins on Friday.
