Jamestown, ND – The Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants got back on track Sunday at Jack Brown Stadium with a pair of 1-0 victories over the Jamestown Greyhounds and the Jamestown Elks.

Pitching was the story of the afternoon for the Merchants.

In game one against the Hounds, starter Brandon Baumgartner tossed a three-hit shutout. Baumgartner struck-out eight batters while not allowing a single Greyhound to reach second base.

The Merchants scored their only run of the game in the third. A pair of two out singles by Andrew Hill and Kevin Gall brought Bryan Erstad to the plate. Erstad crushed a 0-2 fastball over the centerfielders head that scored Hill to give the Merchants their only run of the game.

In game two against the Elks, Merchant starter Sam Hirchert one-upped Baumgartner by taking a no-hitter into the seventh. Sam gave up a lead-off single in the seventh but managed to retire the next three Elks in order to complete his one-hit shutout.

At the plate the Merchants managed only six hits; they plated their only run in the fifth on a base hit by Merchatfish pick up, Devin Piehl.

The Merchants are now (15-7) on the year and return to play this Wednesday at 7:00 PM against the FM Gators.
