Objectives
The Base Borden NPP Beach Volleyball League is established to:
- To develop, encourage, and promote the game of Beach Volleyball at CFB Borden
- To initiate and regulate competitions, games, and playoffs within its jurisdiction.
- To Provide the opportunity for personnel to participate in the sport of Beach Volleyball.
- To Provide unit morale and wellness through Sport at CFB Borden.
Terms Of Reference
- League Convenor:
a. this will be the base Sports Coordinator.
b. they will manage the leagues scheduling & statistics; and chair the discipline committee (DisCo).
- The Team Representatives shall:
a. represent their team at all Team Rep Meetings. (Pre-Season / Post season / emergency meeting during season)
b. be the communication link between the League Convenor and their team.
c. ensure that all players prior to playing any games have paid all/any fees and have been added to the team’s roster. Failure to do so will result in suspension of the player and forfeit of any games played.
d. ensure that all players are eligible for the playoffs.
e. be responsible to ensure the games sheets are completed, legible and submitted to league convenor.
f. Communicate all information from League Convenor to all players (Schedule change/cancellation due to weather etc)
g. read the By-law and know were to find them to reference as required.
Reschedule/Forfeits
· Reschedule
If a Team contacts the League Convenor 24 hours in advance that they cannot play the league convenor will try to reschedule. If the match cannot be rescheduled the team that could not play will be given a loss and the other team will be awarded the win.
· Forfeits – Team does not show for the scheduled Game time.
Each team is allotted 3 Forfeits for the season. Once a team forfeits twice
the League Convenor will review the team participation. On the 3rd forfeit the team may be eliminated from the regular season and the end of season tournament.

Tie 2 pts
Loss 1 pts
Forfeit 0 pts
OFFICIALS
- This League will be self-officiated.

TEAM COMPOSITION
- Team composition shall be as follows:
- each team must have a minimum of six (6) players on the team roster.
- Each team will be composed of Members from your Unit.
- all team rosters/players must be registered with the League Convenor and ALL fees must be paid BEFORE playing in the league.
- players who are posted in during the regular season are eligible to play.
- registered players may not go to other teams without permission from the league Convenor (each situation will be dealt with individually).
- A player shall not be permitted to play for two team in the same league.
Individuals without a team
- Individuals that do not have a team may register with the League Convener, and the League Convener will may every attempt to place the player on an existing team.
- Beach Volleyball will run from Mid-May to the end of Aug.
GENERAL
- Play shall follow FIVA Beach Volleyball Rules, and the by-laws listed below.
- Where the FIVA rules and the by-laws differ, the by-laws shall be the final authority.
LEAGUE FORMAT
- Teams will play with four players per side and must have a minimum of two players per team for the duration of a game.
- Starting. Matches are to start at 1200. If a team is not ready to play by 1215 (using a common clock) then the late team will be considered to have lost the first game. If a team is not ready to play by 1220, then the team is considered to have forfeited the match.
- Authority to cancel game due to weather will be the responsibility of PSP up to 1130. After the game has started the authority rest on the team reps and/or PSP Staff.
- If a game is called due to weather, every attempt will be made to rescheduled. If a game is rescheduled the match will start from 0-0 (both points and games)
PLAYING RULES
- The playing rules for the League are those in common use in Canada at the time plus those listed. Any variations (such at international rules) will be discussed at the first rep meeting prior to the start of the season.
- Net height will be consistent with what is set on the Beach Volleyball courts.
- Net serves. A ball contacting the net on a serve but making it over the net on its own power will still be considered playable.
- Winning a match will consist of winning two out of three games. The winner of the match is responsible for handing in the completed score sheet (signed by both team reps) to the Front Desk immediately following the game.
- Rally point scoring will be used. Each time the ball is served, a point will be scored by one of the two teams. The team that does not commit the foul will be awarded the point.
7. The winning team will have to win by two points and games will go to 25 points. If a third game is required, then the game length will be decided between the two teams to either 15 or 25 if time permits. Teams will switch sides after either team scores the 8 or 13 points.
8. Members of the teams playing will score other games by calling out the score prior to each serve or signing out a flip chart.
