Fargo, ND – The trio of Sam Hirchert, Greg Lunski and Steve Hirchert were dominant on the mound Wednesday night as the Miller Lite Merchants blanked the Jamestown Elks 3-0 at No Name Field.

Sam Hirchert started the game for the M’s and fired six shutout innings to move to (3-0) on the season. Lunski added two scoreless innings, while Steve Hirchert pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his second save of the season.

The Merchants scored all three runs in third after they loaded the bases with no outs. A hit by pitch, RBI groundout and wild pitch brought home the only runs of the game.

Preston Jensen and Anthony Fontana each had two hits for the M’s while Tony Viger had the only extra base hit for Merchants with a double in the seventh.

The Miller Lite Merchants will bring their “Fighting Nine” to Aberdeen, South Dakota this weekend for the Aberdeen Invitational.
