Enderlin, ND – The Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants bounced back from two defeats earlier in the week, defeating the Enderlin Indies 10-0 Friday night at Hendrickson Field.
The Merchants jumped on the Indies starter right away scoring two in the first and three in the second highlighted by Dakotah Kirchenwitz’s first ever Merchant home run.
“My swing was a little off earlier this week, so I went to the cage in Horace and straightened my swing out,” said Dakotah. “Sure enough, it paid off.”
Every Merchant had a hit except for J-Rod Purdy who went hitless in his four trips to the plate.
On the mound, the Merchants struck out 16 Indies, led by starter Brandon Baumgartner who fanned nine while picking up his sixth win of the summer. Turner Storm and Tony Viger combined to throw three innings of scoreless relief.
The Merchants tacked on five more runs to end the game after eight innings via the ten-run rule.
Afterwards, the Merchants took their third annual party bus back home to Fargo. Somehow between Enderlin and Fargo Tony Viger managed to lose both of his Merchant hats. The whereabouts of the hats are still unknown.
The M’s wrap up their final night of Fargo League play this Wednesday at No Name Field against the Redcaps of Mayville. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM
Note: The Mayor of Enderlin, Jeff Nold had one hit in his return. He is still undecided if he will run for another year of office next season.
