[RECAP] Match-day 14: CF Street vs. Savages

January 27, 2018

In what turned out to be a fantastic afternoon in the shadow of Mt. Seymour, CF Street continued their winning ways against a very game Savages. The 7-0 victory for Street secures an undefeated inaugural season. The men in yellow & black looked cagey and slightly uncomfortable throughout the game, it seemed as though the lads may have been looking forward to their Millar's League Cup showdown with Div 1 side NVFC.

The match started strongly for the North Van unit with skipper Dayne Jackson netting the opening goal inside the first 10 minutes. However, any thoughts of a first half goal fest were put to rest with Savages refusing to lay down, and continuing to battle admirably. The second Street tally came via the dreaded own goal which careened off a Savages defender after a wicked strike from Thomas Vanderham that hit the post. Erik Giezen finished the scoring in the first half with a well taken shot from distance that left the keeper no chance.

Second half saw Street settle down into their game, and pot 4 goals, the best of which saw midfielder Mitch Norris hammer home a powerful right foot strike from distance in the 60th minute which closed the book on the scoring for the season. At 99 goals for in their first season, CF Street has sent the entire league a message that their brand of positive, attacking football will be the new standard going forward for years to come.

Up next is a Millar's League Cup match-up with Div.1 side NVFC.
