ONTARIO HYDRO HOCKEY LEAGUE (O.H.H.L.) 2017/2018

RULES & REGULATIONS

 

OHHL Goals & Objectives:

 

1.This League was created solely for the recreational and love of the sport of hockey, thus it will be played in an orderly manner, ie non-contact, no deliberately trying to injure and definitely NO FIGHTING!!  The only way these standards can be upheld is if everyone encourages and demonstrates sportsmanship on and off the ice.

2.Participants must demonstrate:          

                                                       a)respect for referees,opponents,and team-mates;

                                                       b) use of appropriate language;

                                                       c) control emotions, and

                                                       d) play by the rules.

3.Players are allowed to play on other teams when necessary.  It is the responsibility of each player to let their representative know when they will not be able to attend games.

4.Play safe and have fun!!!

 

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

As a privilege of being involved in the OHHL,  there is an expected level of conduct towards fellow members of the league.

When that level is found to be lacking, suspension and or ejection from the program may ensue.

Situation 1 Rule (#) - Definition

A breach of conduct will be defined by a panel of team reps & league commissioner.

Situation 2 Rule (#) - Suspension & Ejection Procedure.

Any verifiable breach of conduct by a player or team will be assessed by a panel of team reps & league commissioner and any subsequent suspension or ejection will be determined from the panel's findings.

Situation 3 Rule (#) - Alcohol/Substance Abuse.

Any player that is found (deemed by Referee) to be intoxicated and/or deemed unfit to play during their game will be in breach of the Conduct Rule.

Such player will be liable to subsequent discipline by the league.

Situation 4 Rule (#) - Shared Respect

It is expected that members of the OHHL will hold a standard of care, safety and respect for fellow members and league officials on and off the ice. Obvious displays of discontent or disrespect towards fellow members and league officials will be disciplined.

 

 

 

LEAGUE REGULATIONS

 

1.    C.A.H.A rules will be in force.

2.    No body checking (Non-Contact League).

3.    The referees decisions are final. Only Captains/Alternatives may         discuss ruling with referee.

4.         All "New" players must be registered by President.

5.         Game Length–2 Periods Run-Time, 1st Period 20 mins & 2nd Period minimum 25 mins.

6.    Players have played at least 6 games (¼ season Regular Season) with     their registered team to be eligible for play-offs.

7.    Default Games:  Less than 6 players (not including goaltender);         and/or if no goaltender available.

       Teams will be given up to 15 minutes before a default is awarded.

       Defaults are 2-0 scores.

       When a default is awarded, teams will equalize number on each team      and play a scrimmage (refereed) game.

8.    Teams that expect to be short players for a regular season game can call upon a maximum 3 league players if and only if they are under 10           players plus goalie. The addition of players cannot exceed 9 players.

       Please Note:  

1.    The substituting players must indicate the team which they play on normally (print Team Name beside signature on Gamesheet).

2.    External Goalies may be used if no league goalies are available.(If goalie is required, team must check with convenor for replacement.)

3.    No Substituting players in the PLAY-OFFS, except goalies that are unavailable or unable to play. Team must contact convenor for legal substitution.

      

       Teams that abuse this rule will default game automatically.

9.    Slap shot are allowed.

10.  Full equipment is mandatory !!!  Helmets must be worn at all times     including warm-ups !!!  For your protection a ½ visor is MANDATORY

       as per CAHA rule 24 (b).

 

RULES & PENALTIES

11a.            Any player called for a "Match Penalty", "Intent          to Injure" or

       "Fighting" penalty will be expelled from the league.

       NO EXCEPTIONS !!! NO APPEALS !!! NO REFUNDS !!!

11b.            Any player assessed a “Gross Misconduct”penalty shall receive an automatic      5 Game Suspension (including play-offs).          

 

12a.            Any player called for "Game Misconduct" in the 1st will be ejected from game.  If called any time in the 2nd Period, player will be ejected from that game and received an additional game suspension. This will be served the following game including play-offs.

12b.            Goaltender Safety: In the event that a Goaltender is struck in the mask or helmet with a shot, the referee shall stop play.  The resulting face-off shall take place at the nearest end-zone face-off spot to where the shot was taken.

 

Note: If a shot hits the goaltenders mask/helmet and deflects

      into the goal (directly or otherwise) prior to the

      official stopping play, the goal shall count.

 

13."Major" Penalties:       1st Offence:  Ejection from game + 3game           suspension

       2nd Offence:  Ejection from game  +  5 game                                                                                       suspension

       3rd Offence:  EXPULSION FROM LEAGUE (in same year)

                                           No Exception !!! No Appeals !!! No Refunds !!!


Violating team will play short-handed for 5 minutes and provide a            player to serve "Major" penalty.  Also, the penalized team will not be allowed to change other that while the play is in progress (ie on the fly).

 

 

14.  Three minor penalties in one game constitutes an automatic ejection   from that game.

 

15.  Coincidental penalties - teams will play at full strength.

 

16.  Any contact with a player with a stick above the shoulder constitutes a minor or major penalty at the referee's discretion.

 

17.  No body checking (Non-Contact) - a minor penalty will be called.

                                                                                               

 

18.  Minor penalties are 2 minutes run-time.  Also, the penalized team will not be allowed to change other than while the play is in   progress (ie on the fly). Upon competion of 2 minute penalty, Player returning on the ice is responsible to close gate door.  Referee reserves the right to stop play if door is open while play is in progress.

 

19.  If a referee feels that the game is being delayed intentionally and         is within 5 minutes left in game; he may award a penalty shot           (Referee's Discretion).

       Also, to further prevent delays and maximize ice time, the last

5 minutes of 2nd (last) period of each game will be played with teams not being allowed to change lines (players) unless it is done on the fly.

       Exception:

       Substitution for injured players or pulling goalie in last minutes.   And after goal is scored by any team.

 

20.  It is against the law and league rules to smoke anywhere in the arena facilities.  It is against the law and leagues rules to drink alcohol within the facilities other than the designated licensed areas.

Head to Head game against each other.(In play-offs)

If still tied, GOAL DIFFERENTIAL in all Play-Offs  Games  (ie GF-GA)

If still tied, FINAL Regular Season Standings
