Newcomer and LaMoure product, Kenny Hodem had a huge day at the plate leading the way going 3 for 4 with a double and a RBI. Coincidentally, those were Kenny's first three hits of the season. When asked about his recent surge Kenny stated, "You ain't seen nothing yet. Back in LaMoure I'd do this all the time then head on over to the Dairy Bar for an ice cream snack." Kenny is also decently happy with the post-game parking lot Beasts now.
New leadoff hitter and former UND pitching standout, Brandon Baumgartner, also had a big day at the plate with two knocks, two runs, and a RBI. When asked about his performance Brandon stated, "I'm so mad UND dropped their baseball program. Do you realize our latest recruits all went on to top D1 and big league programs? UND and their F'in Hawks nickname is so dumb now. That's why I now work for the NDSU booster club." Geez, Baumy, get over it man...
This marks the Merchants first ever win over VCSU as it is their inaugural season. When current VCSU coach, Casey Olney learned the news he said, "you lost to who?" He was then informed he has actually played for the Merchants before and he still holds the title of "Worst late night campfire joke teller" in the history of the Merchants.
There are only a handful of Merchant Wednesday's left. Grab your kids and come on down to the New Helling Field (Old No Name) and watch the action, or lack thereof. We're not as good as we once were, but we're as good once, for like one inning.
