M's drop Fargo League opener

June 11, 2020

Looking to exact revenge from the Enderlin tournament, the Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants came up a little short against the Moorhead Mudcats.

This time, the Mudcats jumped on the Merchant starter Greg Lunski scoring three in the first and three more in the third to take an early 6-1 lead.

The M's battled back, loading the bases up in the sixth but were only able to trim the Mudcat lead to 8-4.

Carlos Turpo made his Merchant debut on the mound buzzing his mid 80's fastball at the heads of the Mudcat players eventually giving up a run leading to a 9-4 final in the Fargo League opener.

Brandon Baumgartner led the Merchants with two hits at the plate, Bryan Erstad and Beau Brunsvold also added doubles in the losing effort.

The Merchants have the weekend off and will be back in action next Wednesday against the Fargo Mets.

Dan Ross will be making his season debut next Wednesday after an extended deck finishing absence.
