The Merchants were firing on all cylinders as they closed out the regular season with a 12-2 win over the Moorhead Miners.  Pounding out 15 hits while stifling the Miners bats to only three hits proved to be the difference on the beautiful summer night at Starion Field.

That puts the Merchants at 6-6 on the year and ready to roll for the ND AAA state tournament, August 21-23 at Jack Brown Stadium in Jamestown.  The tournament will consist of two pools of three teams vying for the title.  The Merchants start off against the Valley City Saints at 7:30 pm on Friday the 21st, and then get the Jamestown Hounds at 4:00 pm on Saturday.  The winner of each pool will play for the title on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
