Advance 16, Van Buren 1

The Advance baseball team scored seven runs in the first and third innings and rolled to a 16-1 victory over Van Buren on Saturday in a round robin at Bloomfield.

Jack Bailey homered and drove home three runs, as part of Advance’s nine-hit outing. Jed Garner went 2 for 2 with a double and four RBIs, Tyler Davis went 2 for 2 with a double and one RBI and Hayden Laird doubled and had one RBI.

Bailey was the winning pitcher, yielding one unearned run on two hits with four strikeouts and one walk in three innings when the game was called because of the 15-run mercy rule.  

Game two with Bloomfield was suspended because of a thunderstorm with the Hornets leading 2-0 after one inning of play. 
The Advance Hornets baseball team returns to action on Monday at Twin Rivers at 4:30.
