SMALL - BALL CAMPS
CAMP DETAILS
The first day of this camp will consist of instruction and team selection. The remaining sessions will be divided into an instruction component and "Small - Ball" competition. In “Small - Ball," one team hits, while the other teams both play defense. Teams will play at least one three to four inning game per day. This format ensures that no players sit out and the waiting time between at-bats is decreased.
To prevent arm fatigue for pitchers and to maximize hitting opportunities, we will operate games with a coach as pitcher. Strikes and balls will be called and players will be challenged at the plate according to their individual hitting ability.
The goals of this program are as follows:
1 - To optimize learning through instructional play. Coaches will collectively monitor and record plays made during games. A slow turnover between innings will be used to review game play and make corrections as needed.
2 - To maximize offensive and defensive playing time during game - play by using a mini-team format. There will be no sitting out!
The goal is to learn how to play baseball properly! Players will be expected to play as competitively as possible, while demonstrating the highest degree of sportsmanship.
Registration information will be provided here by April 14. Please check back!
