Day 1 Recap

1A D1 First Round | Lakeside 51, Oakley 45

Defending 1A D2 champion Lakeside (15-4) started their 1A D1 tournament off on the right foot, outscoring the Hornets (19-4) in the second half 33-21 on their way to the win.  Lakeside had four players reach double figures in scoring (Jayson Hall with 16, Lucky Matt with 13, Kenyon Spotted Horse with 12, and Vander Brown with 10.)  Matt also added 8 rebounds and was named Idaho Sports Player of the Game.  Oakley was led by Corbin Bedke's 17 points.

1A D1 First Round | Riverstone 73, Prairie 64

Riverstone (14-0) has overcome a lot adversity this season.  They overcame their head coach, Bobby Gantt, suddenly passing away this past summer.  They overcame their season nearly being cancelled due to COVID-19.  And they overcame a 36-33 halftime deficit to pick up an opening round win over the Prairie Pirates (17-6).  The Otters remained unbeaten on the season, thanks in part to Idaho Sports Player of the Game Nick Liebich, who shot 14-of-20 from the floor and finished with a double-double of 31 points and 14 rebounds.  Prairie's Cole Schlader finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds.

1A D1 First Round | Grace 67, Victory Charter 53

Grace (11-12) shot 81% (13-of-16) from the floor in the second half as they ran away from the Vipers (19-5).  The Grizzlies' Gage Stoddard shot 11-of-19 from the floor, and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line, on his way to 33 points and Idaho Sports Player of the Game honors.  Victory Charter was paced by Noah Palomares, who finished with 23 points.

1A D1 First Round | Lapwai 81, Liberty Charter 35

After receiving an inspirational Facebook video message from NBA star Kyrie Irving on Tuesday, Lapwai (18-4) put on an impressive display in their opening round romp over Liberty Charter (12-12).  Lapwai's Titus Yearout had a solid all-around game (17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals), earning Idaho Sports Player of the Game recognition.  Connor Gardner finished with 14 points for Liberty Charter.
