Catfish Snagged by Merchants

May 26, 2021

Fargo, ND – The Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants snuck by the Cass County Catfish 4-2 on a chilly Wednesday Night at Helling Field.

The low scoring affair was highlighted by some outstanding defensive plays.

“I haven’t seen us play defense this good since the early 2000’s”, stated Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Lunski.

A trio of Merchant pitchers limited the Catfish to only four hits with John Eckstein picking up his second win of the season. Brandon Baumgartner threw three scoreless innings to shut the door on the Catfish to pick up his first save of the season.

At the plate the Merchants were once again led by newcomers Jesse Munsterman and Tommy Linn who each collected two hits and combined for all three of the Merchant RBI’s.

Bryan Erstad and Dan Ross also added two hits each as the Merchants collected 11 hits in total.

The Merchants will be back in action this Memorial Day weekend for the Jack Brown Stadium Invitational Tournament beginning Sunday morning at 9:00am vs. Tolna.
