River Cup Hockey Tournaments
u6 & u8 - (Half-ice) Tournament Rules
Tournament Format
· 4 Games, Championship game for top 2 teams
· Games are Half Ice, 4v4, 2 games at a time, 3-minute warm up, 2–20-minute running clock periods, 1 minute break between periods.
· All games will have USA Hockey certified Officials and will follow USA Hockey Rules
· Teams must submit a “USA Hockey Approved” season roster for this tournament.
Game Format (These will ensure that all games start and end on time):
· Teams must be prepared to begin a game 15 minutes prior to scheduled time.
· Changes: All levels = 2-minute buzzer changes & BLUE pucks (teams must provide their own pucks)
· Penalties: Player is removed from ice by the coach, for 1 minute (No Power Play is awarded).
· Players receiving 4 penalties in a game will be removed from that game.
· Tied Round Robin games will go directly to a 3-player Shootout to determine winner.
· A rostered player must play in at least 1 round robin game to be eligible to participate in playoff games

Advancement Playoffs or Championship only
If there is a tie at the end of regulation play, a 3-minute sudden death period (3 v 3) will be played.
If the Overtime does not present a winner, then a shootout, consisting of 3-players from each team will be used to determine a winner. ***ALL Consolation games will go directly to a 3-player shootout.
Code of Conduct·
Parents/fans are to conduct themselves in a respectable manner according to USA Hockey Rules
Coaches or players reprimanding the referees or scorekeepers will not be tolerated
Any fighting during the tournament will result in automatic suspension from the next tournament game
All referee decisions are final
The tournament director(s) will not overrule the referee’s decision!
We ask that coaches, players, and spectators be courteous and respectful to the referees and other fans
RCHT supports the “ZERO TOLERANCE” rule regarding on-ice and off-ice conduct
Any inappropriate behavior may be subject to ejection from the game or rink
Please keep in mind that amateur youth hockey is for recreation and the referees are not professionals
Any appropriate complaints must be addressed by your coaches with a tournament director
Those parents/fans not following the ZERO TOLERANCE rule, will be removed from the rink
