Lapwai senior Titus Yearout was voted the 1A Division I All-Idaho Player of the Year for the second straight season by the state’s coaches.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: TITUS YEAROUT, LAPWAI

Why he is player of the year: He led all divisions in scoring the past two years. But the 6-2 senior guard took on a different role to lead the Wildcats to a perfect season. The all-class Gatorade player of the year still poured in 15.0 points per game, but he added 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals to win the 1A Division I award again. He finished with 2,039 career points.

Coach’s comment: “He is as good off the court as he is on it. He is a humble young man who has worked hard for everything he has achieved,” Lapwai coach Zachary Eastman said.

What others are saying: “(He’s) been the best overall player on the best team the last two years. The ultimate winner who will do whatever is necessary for his team to win,” Potlatch coach Ryan Ball said.

What’s next: He has signed to play at Idaho.

KASE WYNOTT, LAPWAI The 6-5 sophomore wing benefited from all those Yearout passes, taking over as the state champs’ top scorer at 25.2 points per game. Division I programs are already after the two-time first-team pick, who added 7.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.

KROSS TAYLOR, LAPWAI A deadly 3-point shooter, the 6-3 senior wing averaged 14.0 points to move up from the second team a year ago. He stretched defenses with his range and his knack for moving without the ball. But he also mixed it up inside with 4.0 rebounds per game.

DALLIN CRIDDLE, LIBERTY CHARTER Opponents cooked up box-and-one and triangle-and-two defenses all year to slow down the 6-6 senior forward. None worked as he still averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 81.5% at the free-throw line and playing all five positions.

WILL CASEBOLT, LOGOS The 6-4 senior guard earned the Knights a state tournament berth with a last-second 3-pointer after trailing by 20 points in a play-in game. He then carried them to semifinals, leading the team in points (18.4 per game), rebounds (7.3), assists (3.3) and steals (2.5).

COACH OF THE YEAR: ZACHARY EASTMAN, LAPWAI The Wildcats won back-to-back state titles and are riding a 36-game winning streak under Eastman.
