John Eckstein took the ball to the hill and wouldn't give it up, until the 8th inning, when Brandon Baumgartner came in and closed it down as the Merchants beat the Redcaps 6-3 on a dreamy Wednesday night at Helling Field to move to 6-0. Lefty Eckstein scattered nine hits striking out eight and only allowing one earned run. Baumy struck out four in the final two frames to earn the save. Kluvers, Erstad, Jesse, and PJ all had two hits. Erstad and Tommy both had two RBI's. PJ doubled and Erstad smacked a triple for the first time in like a long time.
A good time was had by all. JB hit several balls hard but only one hit to show for it. He wants to pitch. So, he's going to get an inning. A few short years ago he was clocked at 95 throwing across the diamond in the Mariners organization so yeah, we need to see this.
