M's Run Rule Mets

June 29, 2022

The Merchants got off to a slow start getting only one hit through the first four innings but then found their groove smacking 15 hits in the next four innings en-route to a 15-2 drubbing of the Fargo Mets.  Five runs in the seventh and six runs in the eighth sealed the deal and moved the Merchants to 9-0 on the season.

Several Merchants had big nights with Beau Brunsvold providing the final punch with a majestic 3 run bomb in the eighth, his first homer since 2009.  It's not everyday you say a player take a hack with two strikes then look behind him for the foul ball when it's actually sailing over the left field fence.  "I really thought I fouled it off," said Beau.  "Somehow, I actually crushed it and the extra set of curls I did today gave me enough juice to get it out."  Not bad for the nine hole hitter.

Other Merchants contributed with Tommy getting four hits, Jesse three hits, Carlos, Zach, and Beau all with two hits.  Carlos had two doubles and Zach doubled off the left field fence as well.

Eckstein and Baumy teamed up on the mound limiting the Mets to one earned run.  Eck went six strong innings scattering six hits and Baumy threw the final two scoreless innings to wrap it up.

The Merchants go on the 4th of July break on a roll but look forward to re-charging and getting ready for the grueling second half of the season.
