Congratulations to the Generals on garnering their Fourth Diamond Classics League Championship!

In the first inning, the Generals scored 2 runs, one driven in by Game MVP Greg Ferris.  The Dodgers would promptly respond with 3 in the bottom of the first, with 2 runs knocked in by Rich Glavas. 3-2 Dodgers

In the 2nd inning, the Dodgers tacked on another courtesy of a double by Jerry Lehman and driven in by Glavas.  4-2 Dodgers.

In the top of the 3rd, Generals SP Paul Potvin walked, advanced on a FC by Cervantes and Singled in by Arnold Chavez.  4-3 Dodgers.

In the top of the 4th, after 2 quick outs, The Generals were the beneficiary of an error to Yamamoto, who promptly stole second.  That was cashed in by Ferris, who also stole second and knocked in by John Laine.  5-4 Generals.

Top of the 6th, a single and 2 doubles by Yamamoto, Ferris and Laine netted 2 more runs.  7-4 Generals.

Both teams went scoreless until the bottom of the 8th where CF Jamie Macek singled, Duane Welty drove him in with a double, and Al Castillo plated Macek with a 2 out hit.  7-6 Generals. 

In the top of the 9th, The Generals smelled blood, and put the game away with 3 runs.  10-6 Generals.

In the bottom of the 9th.  The Dodgers mustered up a rally.  Loading the bases with 2 outs and slugger Rich Glavas at bat (who had already driven in 3 runs).  Potvin induced Glavas to hit a fly ball to CF, captured by David Maciel.

Final score:  Dodgers-6  Generals-10

Welcome to the Winners Circle!  Angels hold off the Generals 10-7 to take their 1st Diamond Classics League Title!

Ed Bunnell twirled 8 2/3 innings to get the Win.  Jerry Lehman gets the Save.

 

For the Generals, going 2/5 was Sam Genie, 2/4 Kyle Yamamoto and Craig Gudgeon and the Game's MVP was Chris Guzman who went 3/4 with 2 RBI!

For the Angels, Jerry Lehman and Sidney Jackson went 2/4 with 2 RBI and WP Ed Bunnell went 2/3 with an RBI.  Sub Victor Hays 1/1 with 2 runs scored.

Fall/Winter 2023/2024 Champions

Behind SP Marty Campbell, and game MVP Mark Newman, Brooklyn defeated the Dodgers 11-4.  Campbell went 6 strong innings, allowing ony 2 runs (both unearned), RP Billy Crews earns the 3 inning Save.  LF Mark Newman went 3-5 with 2 doubles and 3 Runs Batted In!

For the Dodgers, Jamie Macek and Rob Aldrich collected 2 hits apiece.
