Abigail’s favorite class allows her to connect with her culture.

“I would definitely say Native American Arts is my favorite because I get to make cultural items, which is very fun to make,” she said.

Through this class, she works with Lapwai Middle schoolers to provide them with knowledge and guidance of their culture.

Abigail is also taking CTE classes, focusing on construction and welding.

" I'm a really hands-on person, I like building things, planning things out, seeing how it will work,” Abigail explains.

Abigail’s dedication throughout the years has earned her the top spot at Lapwai High School.

"It feels really nice to be valedictorian because I've put a lot of effort into being this and it's very nice,” she said.

Abigail also works in her community by connecting with younger kids.

"I read to the kindergartners, or first graders based on their schedule and it’s like really nice because I get to help them learn, I get to read them good books,” said Abigail. “It’s very entertaining because some of the books I have not read at all and that's like oh that's really funny I really like that."

She is part of the National Honor Society, and Lapwai Volleyball team.

Abigail plans to major in equine studies. "I'm really involved with horses and like training them, taking care of them, getting them all saddled up and then having other people come learn how to ride because it's a very important part of our culture,” said Abigail.

She currently has five universities in mind.

" Montana State University, Washington State University, University of Idaho, Boise State, Oregon State University,” said Abigail.

Reflecting back on her experiences in high school, what she’s most proud of is her growth as a person.
