The Long Island Nor’easters defeated Next Level 6-1 on Friday winning the BCCBL Championsip for the second year in a row.
An error put the Nor’easters on the board in the bottom of the first.
The Nor’easters added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Nico Rodriguez grounded into a fielder's choice, and Obie Sanchez singled to right field, each scoring one run.
Vito Spadafina notched the win hurling a complete game for the Nor’easters. The starting pitcher gave up nine hits and one run over seven innings, striking out four and walking three.
Sanchez and Justin Lopez were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Nor’easters while hitting back-to-back. Connor Bunce led the Nor’easters with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. The Nor’easters had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Jandel Brito, Nick Papageorge, and Nick Gerardi led the team with two bases on balls each.
