Subscribe to our NewsletterNew League Executive Announcement - Jul 22nd, 2025
As many of you know, in my 2024 Year-End Recap, I announced my intention to step down from the Convenor role at the end of the 2025 season.
Over the months from October 2024 to June 2025, I reached out to players who might be interested in taking over the role – no calls, no emails, no texts, and no discussions ever materialized. It became clear that no individual was willing to take on the responsibility. That led me to consider a different approach: what if a group of individuals could share the duties of the Convenor?
I’m pleased to share some good news.
An Executive Committee has been formed, with representation from each of our League Divisions. The members are George Douma, John Edmonds, John Robinson, Debbie (Woodi) Trentadue, and Bob Wilson. Bill Murray will continue in his role as the League’s Webmaster.
This Executive Committee will collectively manage the administrative and operational responsibilities of organizing the League for the Oshawa Senior Community Centres. While the Centres prefer a single point of contact for decision-making, this group structure offers a more balanced and sustainable leadership model.
The Committee has nominated and confirmed that John Edmonds will take on the role of Convenor. I’m happy to announce that John has accepted.
There will be a transition period throughout the remainder of the 2025 season to ensure a smooth handover and continued success for the League.
I will remain available as a Consultant (if needed) for the 2026 season. Since stepping into the role in 2021, it has been a privilege to serve the League, and I have full confidence in the new leadership group moving forward.
Best regards,
Wayne Johnson
