The rumor mill has been spinning amid the start of the NCAA tournament play-in games in Dayton and the MVRH season opening games on April 12th.

Yes, Dave Moravec officially retired effective January 1, 2026 from the Colerain Chamber of Commerce after 6 years as President/CEO to pursue additional writing and consulting opportunities. He has published three books including the award winning, Echoes Across the Tracks.

Moravec, who formed the expansion 50s Expos will turn 64 this summer and has announced that he will turn over the reins (different than rains) to assistant manager Todd Garula after the 2026 campaign.

"Leaving a legacy of positive sportsmanship and impact on the league was important to me," Moravec said in a recent interview. "I'm no spring-chicken and I'm not sure how many games behind the plate at this level are left in me. I'm thankful for the friendships and baseball relationships with the Expos players, league coaches, and team players on the field."

When asked what was next, Moravec replied, "We'll have to see how this season goes. I would love to play another year or two at the 50s level, but we'll wait and evaluate the situation after the 50s season is complete." Moravec who also plays for the 60s Dragons will be eligible for the Miami Valley Roy Hobbs 65 league in 2027. "I'm grateful for each day on the planet. We're playing a kids game and at a pretty competitive level. Most people think we're nuts, but I know we are just playing for the love of the game."
