May 5, 2026
Town Directors and Senior and Intermediate Coaches:
*International Tie Breaker Rule: At the start of the next inning after a declared tie, the last player who completed an at-bat in the previous inning is placed on second. At least one full inning is played, allowing each team the same chance to score. If the score remains tied, the same process is used in each inning until a victor emerges (one team scores more runs than the other at the end of a complete inning).
The WCGSA tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17. We will have a screen-printing vendor at the tournament and Independence runs a mean concession stand! Here are the details you'll need:
- This is a single elimination tournament. First and second place teams receive awards.
- LOCATION: All games are played at Independence Field of Dreams, 31 Cemetery Road, Great Meadows, NJ 07838. The complex has several numbered softball fields. The field # will be on the schedule/brackets. See the park diagram below.
- FIRST GAMES: The first game of the tournament is a regular season game for everyone. The home team for the first game supplies the game balls and the umpire payment. The league takes care of the rest of the tournament. (Winners - Don't forget to report your score to wcgsb@aol.com!)
- FIELDS & TIMES: All game fields will be posted on the brackets. The first six games begin at 9AM, the next six begin at 11AM. Games will continue into the afternoon, so stick around. Your next game will be either early or late afternoon. The tournament will conclude on Sunday morning into afternoon. Game times and scheduling may be modified due to weather or other conditions. Please be flexible.
- RULES: The first games follow all regular season rules except there can be no tied games. (See 5.2 below.) After the first round, regular season rules apply with these exceptions:
