7th & 8th Grade Baseball Polk Burnett League RULES

UPDATED 7th-8th GRADE BASEBALL 2017


LEAGUE RULES

  • Bases shall be 75 feet apart. The pitching rubber shall be 54 feet from the back point of home plate.
  • Innings 1-4 will have a 6 run limit. When the 6th run is scored in an inning, teams will stop play immediately and switch offense/defense. The 5th inning, and any extra innings, will have no run limit.
  • Prior to starting, coaches may agree to bat more than 9 players, with open substitutions on defense. The batting order must remain consistent.
  • Players must use a -3 or -5 bat.
  • Aside from the modifications listed above, WIAA rules will be followed.
  • Our league is not sanctioned by any state rules, and has never had pitching limits. However, the new Wisconsin guidelines are listed below, and coaches are strongly urged to consider the health of their athletes.

Pitchers age 13-14

  • Pitcher throws 1-20 pitches in a game…he is eligible to pitch the next day
  • Pitcher throws 21-35 pitches in a game…he should rest for 1 day before pitching in a game
  • Pitcher throws 36-50 pitches in a game…he should rest for 2 days before pitching in a game
  • Pitcher throws 51- 65 pitches in a game…he should rest for 3 days before pitching in a game
  • Pitcher throws 66-95 pitches in a game…he should rest for 4 days before pitching in a game
  • Example 1: A player who throws 35 or less pitches in a game on Tuesday, would rest 0 or 1 day and be available to pitch again on Thursday.
  • Example 2: A player who throws 36 or more pitches on Tuesday, would need to rest the appropriate number of days and would not be available to pitch on Thursday.
