Shooting The Basketball

"Work on
THE TOP SHOOTING #1 PLAYER ON THE HILLTOPPERS ACADEMY TEAM 2
By Coach Shaw

So what's this earth-shattering secret about Kobe? It lies in Kobe's shooting hand.

When Kobe shoots a basketball he doesn't hold his release with ALL four fingers down. Instead...Kobe dominates with his index finger.

The index finger is the strongest and straightest finger. Kobe knows this so he releases his shot by snapping his index finger down and releasing his pinkie and ring finger up. Kobe has been coming to my clinic for 3 years and he works hard on his shooting everyday he comes to the clinic.

The finger(s) that are down on your follow-through will determine which finger the ball rolls off last.

Kobe gets it! He is the best 3 point shooter on Team 2 and (Rank #4th) best 13 year old in the state of California and in the top 20 for a 13 year old in the nation. (This is base on the Numbers put out from the [USAAS) 2007 book.

Try it. I call it the 1 down...3 up method. It works. BUT YOU HAVE TO PRACTICE AND BELIEVE!

Bryan Walker told me 5 years ago he could not shoot with his left hand and now he has a very strong left hand. Walker came to the clinic for 2 years. My point is you must work on your game that is weak so you can make it become strong.

I would like to see all of the players come to a clinic but I know that this is not always posable so I ask all of the Hilltoppers players to work on your game when you are out of school on the spring break or whenever you can.
You can learn more about the finger and many more secrets in coach Shaw's clinic.
