Jensen and Merchants Cruise to Victory over the FM Mets

May 24, 2017

Fargo, ND – The Miller Lite Merchants walked off via the ten-run rule on Wednesday night at No Name Field against the FM Mets.

The Merchants were led by Preston Jensen who reached base four times and collected three hits.

“I was nervous when I showed up 90 minutes before game time and ten Mets players were hitting whiffle balls behind the backstop,” said Jensen. “Somehow, our pitchers were still able to limit them to only three hits.”

The game was tight in the early going until the M’s scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to give themselves a 6-1 lead. Single runs in the fifth and sixth along with three in the seventh led to the Merchants 11-1 victory.

Sam Hirchert got the win on the mound throwing five innings while only giving up one run.

Andrew Hill, Bryan Erstad and Anthony Fontana also had multi-hit games for the M’s who move to (4-1) on the season.

The Merchants are off this weekend and will be back in action next Wednesday against the Cass County Catfish. First pitch is scheduled for 7:01 PM.
