THE START OF THE NEW YORK LONGHORNS

The New York Longhorns originally started out as the South Shore Chiefs in Summer of 2018. This team was created with 12 full time players and 3 practice squad players, with all but one being from Massapequa International Little League.

In the Summer of 2018 the Chiefs competed in the 7U Division of the Hot Stove Summer League where they went a perfect 13-0 and won the Summer Championship 12-5 over the Plainview Hawks.

The Chiefs again went undefeated in the Fall of 2018 playing in the Hot Stove Fall League. The Chiefs finished the Fall 7-0 and won the Fall Championship over their in town rivals the Massapequa Cyclones by a score of 4-2.

For the 2018 Season the Chiefs outscored their opponents 157-10

At the end of the 2018 season the coaches and parents decided to leave Little League baseball and concentrate solely on travel ball, and the Longhorns were born.

In the Winter of 2018 the Longhorns worked out an agreement with the Francisco Baseball Academy, for discounted training space in return for them wearing a Team Francisco jersey. The Longhorns were comprised of 10 players from the Massapequa International Little League, 1 player from Farmingdale and 1 player from Syossett.

In the Summer of 2020 the Longhorns decided to move over to Max Effort Baseball for their indoor workouts so the Team Francisco name was dropped and the New York Longhorns were born.
