 Game Clock & Time Outs:

  • Each team will receive two time outs per half; if a game goes into overtime, each team will receive one time out; unused time outs do not carry over.

  • Coaches may only call a time out when their team has possession of the ball

  • 15-second substitution time-outs occur every four minutes; teams may be charged a time out if they delay the game during a 15-second substitution time out

 Overtime:

  • Regular season overtime sessions will last two minutes with each team receiving one time out; the clock will stop on all whistles and when the ball goes out of bounds. If tied after overtime game results in a tie

  • Standard playing rules apply - equal time, subs can be made at 1 minute mark

  • Post season - 2 overtime sessions permitted, In the event it is still tied in playoffs, fouls shots will be taking by 5 selected players, most made wins, if tied after 5 shooters additional shooters added from bench and continue in sudden death.

 Playing Time:

  • Equal playing time for all players is mandatory – See Equal Playing time Guidelines

 Foul Shots:

  • Foul shots will be taken from the official foul line

  • One-and-one foul shots will result when the team foul number reaches 7 in each half; teams start from 0 team fouls at the beginning of each half

  • Any coach or player receiving two technical fouls in a game will be ejected from the game, removed from the gym and suspended from the next game.

  • Any player or coach ejected from the game for any reason will not participate in the next game

  • A flagrant foul (as called by the referee) will result in two free throws for the player fouled, and possession of the ball to the fouled team after the second free throw; Any player called for two flagrant fouls will result in ejection from the game.

  • Shooting fouls result in the fouled team automatically receiving one point, and the fouled player going to the line for one foul shot attempt

  • Foul shots are taken at a foul line located 12 feet from the rim, three feet closer than the official location on the floor (a special line is marked on the floor)

  • Line fouls on foul shots will be called; foul shots made by players who cross the foul line will not count

  • When setting up players in position down the key, the baseline positions along the key furthest from the foul line and under the basket will not be occupied

  • Any foul shots, the first shot is considered good, thus there is no one and one in the event of a technical (all of them are two shots) the first one is good and the second attempted.

  • Man-to-man and Zone defense will be permitted.

  • Defense will encompass the entire half court of the goal being defended.

Equal Playing Time Guidelines

As a coach, it is your responsibility to ensure all players participate evenly in the games. Every player on your team should have an opportunity to dribble, pass and shoot during every game. You are responsible for ensuring EQUAL PLAYING TIME to the half quarter for all players.  The chart below breaks it down based on the number of players you may have. Substitution time-outs will take place at the four-minute mark of each quarter (or as close to the four-minute mark as possible).

If you have 10 players each player plays 2 quarters

If you have 9 players 4 players play 2 1/2 quarters 5 players play 2 quarters

If you have 8 players All 8 players play 2 1/2 quarters

If you have 7 players 5 players play 3 quarters 2 players play 2 1/2 quarters

If you have 6 players 4 players play 3 1/2 quarters 2 players play 3 quarters

If you have 5 players each player plays 4 quarters
