Higgins, Stapleton named top Whitepine players (Glory recognized)

Prairie’s Jordyn Higgins and Nezperce’s Hannah Stapleton claimed the Division I and Division II player of the year awards, respectively, in the Whitepine League girls’ basketball honors, announced Tuesday.

The coach awards went to Troy’s Aaron Dail at the Division I level and Kendrick’s Ron Ireland at the Division II level.

Lapwai’s Glory Sobotta, Raequel Domebo and Aurelia Ellenwood were first-team picks on the Division I team and Nezperce’s Hannah Stapleton, Sydney Boyer and Caitlyn Cronce made the Division II first team.

WHITEPINE LEAGUE DIVISION I TEAM

Player of the Year — Jordyn Higgins, Prairie.

Coach of the Year — Aaron Dail, Troy.

First team — Glory Sobotta, Lapwai; Jordyn Higgins, Prairie; India Peery, Prairie; Raequel Domebo, Lapwai; Aurelia Ellenwood, Lapwai; Bailey Leseman, Genesee.

Second team — Jordyn Fredrickson, Troy; Emerson Parkins, Genesee; Madison Shears, Prairie; Kiana Hoskins, Troy; Theresa Wemhoff, Prairie; Shy Lynas, Potlatch.
