Carl Gunnerson: USA/ASA Softball Hall of Famer

July 9, 2018

On July 9, 2018, prior to a doubleheader between Champion Christian Center and the Monstars, our very own Carl Gunnerson was inducted into the USA/ASA Softball of Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.

Carl's in involvement in softball began as a player, and then an umpire, more than 50 years ago.  In 1984, the President of the Washington Church Softball League, Abe Key, resigned his position so he could devote more time to his position with PONY Baseball, and Carl was elected to be his successor.  For 34 years, he has continued to lead our league as its Commissioner, an umpire, and a team manager.  He has done so with the utmost class since day one, always with his trademark toothpick peeking through his genuine smile, making sure the local softball community could share in family-oriented fun, competition, and fellowship.

USA/ASA Softball of Pennsylvania recognizes Carl's contribution with his induction into the USA/ASA Softball of Pennsylvania Hall of Fame as a member of its Class of 2018.  We thank Carl for his contributions and recognize that, without his efforts and leadership, our league, and all the good times that go with it, wouldn't be what it is today.

Congratulations, Carl!!
