Intramural Basketball Game Behavior

Youth Basketball Fan Guidelines: Fostering a Positive Environment 🏀😊

Youth basketball games are a time for players, coaches, and families to come together in a fun and positive atmosphere. Fan behavior plays a crucial role in shaping this experience. Here are some key points to keep in mind:

  1. Cheer Positively and Respectfully: 🎉👏
Support your team with enthusiasm while being respectful to the opposing team, their fans, and referees. Avoid booing, taunting, or any negative remarks, as these can discourage players and create unnecessary tension.

  2. Promote Good Sportsmanship: 🤝🏅
Applaud good plays, regardless of which team makes them. Demonstrating fairness and respect encourages camaraderie and fair play on the court.

  3. Respect the Facilities: 🏫🚫
As guests in the gymnasiums, we must remain in the designated gym areas. Running in the school hallways or exploring classrooms, the church basement, or other areas is strictly prohibited. Maintaining respect for the space ensures we can continue using these facilities in the future.

  4. Set an Example for Players: 👀👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
Young players look up to the adults in the audience. By showing respect for the game, referees, and all participants, fans set a strong example of sportsmanship and maturity for the athletes.

  5. Focus on Player Development: 🏆🌱
Remember, intramural games are designed to help young athletes grow and develop their skills. Celebrate their efforts and progress rather than placing excessive emphasis on winning or losing.

Additional Suggestions for Proper Fan Behavior: 📝👍

  • Avoid shouting instructions to players from the stands; leave coaching to the coaches. 🗣️🚫
  • Encourage teamwork and highlight the importance of effort over individual performance. 🤗💪
  • Help maintain a calm and respectful atmosphere, even during close or contentious games. 😌🕊️
  • Ensure younger children attending the games are supervised to prevent disruptions. 👶👀

By embracing these guidelines, we can create an enjoyable, supportive environment that recognizes the dedication and hard work of all involved while fostering the values of sportsmanship and respect.

Thank you for your cooperation in making youth basketball a positive experience for everyone! 🏀🎉

Regular Registration for the St. Cyril & Methodius CYO Intramural Basketball Program has officially ended in December. All teams have been formed, practices are underway, and the full game schedule has been finalized as we begin another exciting season of CYO basketball.

For families who are still interested in participating, late registration is still possible, but availability is very limited. While the online registration link remains open, placement cannot be guaranteed and will be based strictly on roster needs and available space. Requests for specific teams or coaches cannot be accommodated, as late placements are made on an as-needed basis to maintain balance across teams.

We are currently sold out in the following age groups:

COED Boys & Girls in Grades 1 & 2

Boys in Grades 3 & 4

Boys in Grades 5 & 6

Girls in Grades 3 & 4

Please note that there are no discounts for late registration. Once you complete the online registration, you must contact Mike Gonzalez directly to confirm availability, arrange payment, and address any questions or concerns.
